Welcome to the Department of Nursing at Murang’a University of Technology. As a cornerstone of the School of Health Sciences, our mission is to nurture competent, ethical, and forward-thinking nurses who drive Kenya’s Universal Health Coverage (UHC) agenda through the Human Resources for Health strategy.

We prepare graduates who expand access to quality healthcare by integrating preventive, promotive, curative, and rehabilitative services with a strong foundation in research, leadership, and innovation. The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) is a four-year program that combines rigorous theory with immersive clinical practice. Anchored in evidence-based care and emphasizing interpersonal relations, our curriculum fosters excellence in medical-surgical nursing, child health, community and public health, emergency preparedness, and clinically oriented research.

Beyond national duty, we equip our graduates for global opportunities—enabling them to excel in skilled labour mobility, shape health policy, and lead Kenyan-driven research that adapts global solutions to local realities.

Minimum Entry Requirements (as per NCK guidelines)
Applicants must meet the following minimum criteria for admission into the BScN program:
• KCSE Mean Grade: C (Plain)
• Biology/Biological Sciences: C (Plain)
• English or Kiswahili: C (Plain)
• Physics or Chemistry or Mathematics: C– (Minus)
Duration of Study
BSN is taught for (4) Academic Years of three (3) semesters per year.
• Learning is delivered through:
o Engaging classroom coursework
o Intensive clinical placements in hospitals and community health settings
o Simulation-based skills training in skill laboratory with modern high Fidelity mannequins and case simulations.
o A supervised, clinically focused research project
